Clara Lord doesn't know who she is from page one and watching her struggle to figure herself out was a badass, reckless ride that I'm glad I got to take. She's fierce and ferocious and everything fabulous that I love in a female character yet is rarely shown because there's some weird thinking out there that all female readers want a damsel in distress who faints at the first sign of danger.

I like my women wild.

Clara doesn't disappoint. She's got this mouth on her that makes me laugh all too often; there are times when I wonder what it has to feel like to hate yourself the way that she does, yet to be utterly helpless to change either. Her life is a mess because she's got this beautiful little girl to take care of, to consider in her decisions, and she's all that Allie has since the father isn't in the picture. All Clara has ever known has been fight-or-flight responses to situations that overwhelmed her so when she meets Dominic Napoli and he's everything she's been running from, what else should she have done?

She ran.

Only he's a creeper who didn't let her get very far before tracking her down to hijack her into a whirlwind relationship that is down more than it's up except for the passion! Wow! I admit it. I was a little breathlessly in love with Dom, too. He swept me away with his overwhelming desire for Clara that couldn't be compartmentalized the way that everything else in his rich, high-society life could be. She was this chink in the cogs of the well-oiled machine that had been his life, knocking everything out of gear. It was amazing to fall for him.

Sawyer was a casualty in the war in this one. He's that guy that everyone should love since he's The Good Guy. He's a victim of Clara's humanity since she is only human and everyone needs someone on their side.

He was her guy. He was on her side.

It was only that she didn't know what side she really stood on that caused him to not be Mr. Right instead of Mr. Right Now.

This book, for me, was about someone coming to grips with themselves, coming to accept themselves and their circumstances in all their horrific, flawed glory, and I think that Clara did that in the end. I think she became who she was meant to be. I'm glad I got to watch her grow.

Fantastic work! I'm so thankful I got the opportunity to stand on the sidelines for K. Larsen's Tug of War.

Tug of War K Larsen Writer Edge Publishing 9780615894737 Books Reviews

All the reviews said this main character was a "love her, hate her, or love to hate her" type. Most seemed to hate her. I didn't, but I didn't love her, either.

She's an emotional mess. Some of that, I related to. As for why this rich man falls for her, I think it's more conquest than love. Does it turn into love, the author would have you think so; I'm not so sure.

Tho the heroine seems to learn to face and handle her inner demons, I didn't find the ending satisfactory. I felt the heroine didn't just resolve her personal issues but changed her basic core values (yes, she has some).

The author also brought some seemingly very important and emotion-laden scenes towards the end of the book. Their cause was unexplained, and they were glossed over without explaining how resolution occurred. Maybe that's in the next book, which I won't be reading.

Good airplane or bedtime read but not riveting.
Took me a long time to read this book but I did it. I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed it. My first impressions were how I wanted to slap Clara with a hammer.

"I'm a bitch, I'm a liar and I'm horribly selfish."

You can say that again. This woman was so confused. I did feel bad for her once I learned the truth but it still gave her no right to make the choices that she did when it came to Sawyer and Dom. Oh yes, the Love Triangle. Caught between the man who's been her shelter and safe house and the one who's haunting her desires and dreams. I felt like at times the only brain Clara was using was her damn vagina. She must've been plugged up(pun intended).

Sawyer was her shelter from her horrible past. He's the only person who knew the whole truth except one small detail. Which shocked the s*** outta me and disgusted me at the same time. He's her hero, best friend, co-owner of the tattoo parlor they both work in and also the father figure in her daughter's life. Yeah Clara has baggage. Allie has been raised around the tattoo parlor her whole life and is a tough little cookie. She's like a mini Clara. Maybe smarter. Sorry Clara, it took me a while to not wanna kill you. I absolutely hated what went on between Clara and Sawyer. I thought he was too good for her. Although she did make it clear to him she didn't love him that way and he set himself up for the consequences. A true gluten for punishment. I shouldn't say that. He loved her.

"Where do they end, Clara? How many lies are there? Have I ever known you?"

On a night out with her BFFs at a club she meets Creepy McCreeperton, crazy, stalkerish, Rich, Alpha, Dominic Napoli. The first night at this bar Clara is wasted and her friends decide to leave her with Dom. What kind of friends would leave their drunk friend with a complete stranger? Hers did. He takes her back to his hotel, undresses her down to one of his t-shirts and puts her to bed. How thoughtful of this stranger to strip her naked and not even sleep with her. Awkward!! Dom comes out strong which scares the crap outta Clara. The hurtful past and her "I don't commit" sends her running from him. She puts her walls back up and sets her mind that he will never be what she wants. He's not right for her. Only thing Dom always gets what he wants.

"I think about you all the time, Clara. If I could evict you from my head I would have done it a month ago. Why are you so sure you can't be with me?"

Time goes by after the first time they meet and every time after that it sort of how the story goes. Clara unsure of what to do. Wants to try a life with Sawyer but her damn heart and vagina want Dom. My vagina wanted Dom too. I think it's his stalking abilities that did it for me. I know many if you readers love the angst in a love triangle and I think you will enjoy this story. It's very realistic. Oh and then there's also the garbage that needs no spotlight like her waste of space mother and the dynamic duo of scum father and son, Charlie and Daniel. This is my first book by K Larsen and I'm sure I will be reading more of her work. Until next time...Happy Readings❤️
Clara, Dom, Allie and Sawyer!!! Loved them all. I loved Clara's spunk! I can totally see me hanging out with her. Allie, what an adorable kid! Dom, what a bad boy billionaire! Sawyer, what a best friend with benefits!! Sometimes I wanted to smack Clara and tell her to be honest, but how many times do we find ourselves being untruthful for our own sanity/ safety. Sawyer needs a good hug, a nice kiss, and maybe a little lovin. Dominic needs someone who can go toe to toe with him. A ruthless businessman of his stature needs someone who can keep up and put him in his place. Loved these characters. Felt all their feels! Can't wait to see what's next!!
