The first book I read of Anne Gracie's was the 4th book in the Devil Riders series (yeah, it figures - number 4), and I absolutely adored it. It stood alone, and I hoped this one did, too. It did, and I'm SO glad I read it! This was a heart-breaking yet ultimately triumphant romance. Something about this story just touched me, and I don't think I could have asked for beter leads than Harry and Nell. I've got to get the other books than I'm missing!

This is a short review. I LOVED this story, actually several stories, inside of main story. Tremendous dialog - e.g. during a fight Harry's remarks are nothing short of brilliant. The characters are brought to life completely! I checked it out from library BUT plan to buy my own copy as this is one of the special ones I will reread again )
Anne Gracie is an amazing author! The book had romance, adventure, mystery, intrigue, love & family togetherness. Really enjoy Ms.Gracie's books.
Cry, burn, yearn, cry some more, rage a little, laugh a little and then cry some more. Well worth the roller coaster.
This is one of her best1 I was so intent on seeing what happened next I ended up reading much longer than I had planned.
the title is odd--I didn't get the sense of a captive lady anywhere in the book. Readers be advised that there are a few episodes of explicit sex.
This isn't a knock your socks off romance, but it is a memorable read about a woman who is searching for the baby that was taken from her, and the gallant hero that comes into her life to help her. The hero in this story is lovable and is such a generous man. The heroine has so many struggles that she needs all the strength the hero can give, and give it he does. The book touches on a lot of emotional subjects but at the same time I didn't feel emotionally overwhelmed for the characters. I actually think that with the depth of the subjects I should have felt more. I think I would have liked to watch the heroine and the hero develop a little more while knowing the search was important but not focusing just on that in revealing the heroine's thoughts and emotions. Also, the waiting to say the three little words is a little tired in romance. The secondary characters were interesting and I can't wait to learn more about them.
ANNIE GRACE IS A DELIGHT...these books are awesome English/London Historic day reads, at first I wasn't sure of her writings because I had never read anything of hers, but the cover and storyline peaked my interest and I am glad I did indulge in them ... they have been very good books, I am having to be very Patient for the next book in this series )
I enjoy reading books from different time periods and I love this Devil Rider's series by Anne Gracie. I believe this is book #4. I own them all and have read them several times. Great escapism. Strong manly men falling in love with strong intelligent women. The supporting characters are delightful. The proofreaders need to find other jobs because you will find mistakes here and there. Very entertaining stories without too much graphic sex. I like to let my imagination do most of the work.
This is the best type of romance I was so engrossed in the story that I didn't realize that I had tears falling off my face until, like miss Tibbs, they hit the page. I had both laughter and tears while reading this book, Anne Gracie is my new favorite author!

Anne Gracie has the gift of creating beautiful characters with believable conflicts. Too often one must suspend common sense in order to enjoy a Romance novel. While not perfectly practical, it is a delightful book with a satisfying ending. I hate books that a simple misunderstanding ruins the plot....when I curse the author for not having the characters actually solve their problems by being grown ups.

I particularly enjoyed the family aspect of the story. Aunt Maude is a delight. The fraternal fondness of the soldiers and brothers was simple and true. none of the characters are one dimensional and the characters who are women who have not been perfect are not treated as horrible women, but compassionately and with respect.

The conflicts between the H and h were reasonable and didn't make me cringe with an eye towards the dysfunctional .....it is a beautiful fairy tale. I am glad that I read it....in one day! Sad that I read it so quickly but happy that this is one in a series.

My only complaint is the lack of Epilogue.
