As a retired social worker, I know that many people struggle with problem-solving. Problem-solving often requires inspiration or guidance of some kind. It's often difficult to run to a coach or a therapist when life throws us a curve-ball. There are things we just have to figure out on our own. Sometimes if we just find a quiet corner and a few tools to help us, we can sort out our issues, develop new plans for our lives, and set new goals. Often the truth is inside us. We simply need to find a way to bring it to the surface.Gabriela Casineanu has written this inspiring compact book to encourage us to think and problem solve. She doesn't give us answers. She gives A tool, a very ingenious tool, to guide us to the truth that we need to solve any life journey dilemma.
I really appreciate the visual journey that she provides for us. She asks the question while we focus on the picture. Then, while we journal our own answers, we are able to process our dilemma more effectively.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, or believe that you need to make a major change in your life, you probably need to sit down and talk with yourself and seriously think things through. I strongly suggest giving this little book a try. It may be small, but it packs a big punch.
This book is designed to work with your own creativity. You will need a journal and a quiet space to think. But you can do this.

Meeting With My Self SelfCoaching Questions That Invite Wisdom In Photo Coaching Book 1 edition by Gabriela Casineanu Politics Social Sciences eBooks Reviews
We all need to meet with ourselves …
And this book is a great tool in awareness-making.
I am a great believer in asking the right questions, as we are all capable of changing direction and identifying negatives in our lives, once we have successfully managed to pin down the unconscious behaviours and believes that drives us.
I absolutely love the easy format, the deeply insightful questions and the beautiful images accompanying them.
As a coach and a counselor myself, it is not easy to find someone who can cut through my defenses, but Gabriela Casineanu is the exception. She understands the human condition, and that is a rare trait!
I will recommend this little gem over and over!
The title intrigued me. From the beginning, with the Thomas Paine quote about reflection, I was engaged until the last page. The author presented a series of thoughtful questions complemented with photographs that she took herself making this photo-coaching book unique and arresting. I savored each page and the perspective she presented. A wonderful way to spend some time for reflection. I will return to visit several pages of the book from time to time and continue the conversation with myself.
Ms. Casineanu has given us a gift. I highly recommend this book and look forward to her next book, whatever it may be!
I love the focus of this book. I believe too many people go through life never asking the right questions, and when they do they often don't take the time to honestly answer them. This book, if taken seriously, can help you pursue more out of life and live with more focus. As a counselor of more than 15 years, I know questions are the most powerful tools in helping people gain insight and self-awareness. This is crucial in helping them move toward overcoming the negative issues in their life. This book and the thought provoking questions it asks of its reader, can be the catalyst you need to experience positive change in your life.

Among the self-help books that crowd today’s marketplace, I found Meeting with Myself by experienced life coach Gabriela Casineanu to be exceptionally moving and inspirational.
Meeting with Myself is a photo coaching book Casineanu created out of her professional practice and love of photography. Her intent is to make the self-discovery/self-motivation process “more tangible by combining visual images with powerful coaching questions to help people apply them meaningfully in their own lives.” She succeeds splendidly.
For me, this book has the deeply moving simplicity of a Japanese Zen garden. In 40 pages, it inspires readers to explore their own unanswered questions in fresh, stimulating ways, and act on what they discover.
The approach in Meeting with Myself will be new to many readers – as it was to me. Casineanu helpfully provides a clear, well-focused, step-by-step introduction to guide first-time readers in working with the book’s content.
It’s hard to truly capture the experience of encountering this book just in words, but here is an example of two of the many pages that really moved me.
Page 12 begins with Casineanu’s personal experience with self-awareness. “When I was asked to write my epitaph, it seemed weird at the beginning! Then it made sense it pushed me to think about my life purpose.”
What follows is a poignant photo of a rustic gravestone in a flowery setting that could have been on the seacoast; it felt lonely, and also loved at the same time. (I was amazed at the fast, incredibly diverse flashes of thought and memory the picture triggered inside me from quick images and memories of my beloved parents, now both long gone, to a line from folk singer Stan Rogers’ song “Northwest Passage.”)
Her question then picks up the thread of one’s life purpose.
What would you like to achieve* in this life?
Are you taking daily steps to get there?
Or are you a passenger, allowing someone else to drive your car (life)?
I liked the compression of the two different journey metaphors that follow the question.
Her professional experience shows up as well in her explanatory note for “achieve” at the bottom of the page. *If you answered “I don’t know”, set an intention to find out what you want, and a due date. This way you’ll set your mind to find the answer.”
The following page 13 starts with another question
What’s more important to you the end result ... or the person you become in the process?”
The two parts of the question surround a stark photo of stone monoliths as bleakly abandoned as the statues on Easter Island – and in sharp contrast with the photo on the previous page. Casineanu doesn’t push an answer to this question; she allows readers to find their own. (For me it reinforced the value of the growth that can happen on one’s journey through life rather than the physical ”result” of that journey, which for all of us is death.)
Not all the pictures and questions in this book moved me equally, but that’s actually the point. We’re all unique. The range of images and related questions means that the book has the ability to touch diverse people, at different stages in their life journeys, in different, individual ways. As you work through the book, follow the path that opens before you.
In her introduction, Casineanu invites readers to “Consider this book as a tool that facilitates the meeting between you with your Self.” I enthusiastically recommend this book because Casineanu arranges a meeting both parties will richly enjoy!
This book deserves the Zen Buddhist applause of a single hand clapping!
